Clubs of the SSJCA
Gymea Bay
Gymea Bay was a foundation club. It entered teams in the first two years then failed to register the following season. In 1957 the senior club entered a junior team managed by Stan Neilson. That situation did not last and after two seasons it once again failed to register. It re-entered in 60/61, when Bruce Boxsell formed the Gymea Bay Junior Cricket Club as a separate entity to the senior club.
It remained that way until the early seventies when under the Presidency of Lance Handley the two came together once more. Gymea won its first of two Club Championships in 83/84, the second in 90/91. Gymea Bay was the home club of possibly the best girl cricketer to come out of the Shire through SSCJA junior ranks, Kate Owen.
