Clubs of the SSJCA
Sylvania Heights Youth Centre Cricket Club
Of the current clubs that joined subsequent to 57/58, Sylvania Heights is the oldest. It joined in 58/59 as part of the Sylvania Heights Youth Centre a community group focussing on a whole range of sports. It correct title is Sylvania Heights Youth Centre Cricket Activity but for the purposes of describing it in this history it is referred to as the Sylvania Heights Youth Centre Cricket Club.
It is not to be confused with the Sylvania Heights Cricket Club which is a stand-alone senior cricket club playing in the SSCA competitions. It has developed into a strong and consistent club over the years. In the mid eighties it was consistently one of the largest clubs. Club Life Member Tom Croucher today occupies the position of SSJCA Competition Manager a demanding role. His father Wal Croucher was heavily involved in the early days of the Association and not only the development of the Sylvania Heights Cricket Club but also the creation of the Sutherland District Cricket Club, the "Grade" club. Proof of Sylvania's strength is reflected that over the years in a very competitive arena, it has won 6 Club championships.
