2009/10 AW Green Season

The AW Green Shield comprises teams who represent their grade clubs in an Under 16 competition consisting of 7 preliminary rounds, qualifying finals, semi-finals and a grand final.

Many of NSW's top cricketers have come through this prestigious competition.

Eligibility

This year the potential AW Green Shield players will be selected from those eligible players from grade ranks; junior representative sides (specifically Watson Shield, U16 Presidents; and Weblin Shield) and from selected independent schools.

Each player must be available for all season playing dates without exception – please refer to season dates below.

Eligible players must be under 16 as at 31 August 2009.

Sutherland District Cricket Club encourages eligible juniors to participate in junior representative sides to gain maximum experience playing on turf wickets prior to AW Green Shield games.

Please note there will not be a SDCC Academy for this year.

Coach and Manager Appointed

The coach this year of the AW Green Shield side is Matt Bradley. He will be assisted by Ben Connell as Manager.

Considered the toughest and most competitive under 16 competition in the world, A W Green Shield, or Greenies as it is more commonly known, comprises teams who represent their grade sides in an Under 16 competition consisting of 7 preliminary rounds, qualifying finals, semi-finals and a grand final.

Many of NSW's top cricketers have come through this prestigious competition. All points received in this competition go towards the Grade Club Championship. Parramatta won the 2007/08 title by defeating St George by one run in the Final.
