Representative Cricket

U10 Development Squad

SSJCA runs a U/10 Development program in preference to entering a team into the Foster Shield. We have conducted the development squad for a number of years and are pleased with the results it has shown for the following years rep teams.

24 players are selected after a selection trial. These players then receive specialised coaching focusing on batting, bowling and fielding over a number of Sunday's. At the conclusion of the program, the players are split into 2 teams and compete against each other under Rep Cricket conditions. To wrap up the season, in previous years, the players have travelled to the SCG to play or train at the facilities, a highlight they will remember forever.

This year, we had a record number of nominees evidencing the popularity of this program. Thank you to all players who nominated for the U10 Development Squad this year and for everyone’s efforts at the trial held at the SCG indoor nets. We hope that everyone enjoyed the experience.

U10 Development Squad - Program Details

The Development Squad coaches for this season are Bill Johnson (Head Coach), Rob Knight, Roy Amos and Jim Lee.

Bill is a Level 3 accredited coach with over 25 years experience, working extensively with Cricket NSW in various coaching roles over many years, including stints as coach of the representative NSW U17 side. Since 1993, he has held various Club and Representative team coaching roles within the SSJCA. Bill was also awarded NSW Coach of the Year at the Allan Border Medal awards in 2008.

Rob is a Level 2 accredited coach with 11 years coaching experience at Club level within the SSJCA, being a 6-time premiership coach (the last 5 years straight). Rob has coached at SSJCA representative level and has worked with Cricket NSW.

Roy and Jim are both Level 1 accredited coaches with experience coaching at Club level within the SSJCA over a number of years.
