Emerging Blues
Cricket NSW seeking to encourage and develop young skilled players with a view to the future introduced in 2000 the "Emerging Blues" concept of selecting players for advanced coaching. This was formerly known as the Metropolitan Squad but the "Emerging Blues" set as its objectives:
- To identify talented young cricketers in the Greater Sydney, Illawarra & Central Coast Regions
- To monitor the progress of these players from age 12 to 16
- To undertake a series of activities to develop the technical, physical and psychological components of each players game
Since the commencement of this scheme more than fifty talented SSJCA players have participated.
Currently this scheme is being conducted by a former SSJCA cricketer, Trent Woodhill, a former Engadine Dragons junior cricketer who later played and coached in the United Kingdom. Trent holds Level Three coaching accreditation.
